Elements of Competency Performance Criteria
Element: Conduct observations of resilient plants for a permaculture site
  • Identify resilient plant species and record in field notes for permaculture site
  • Assess scope and size of resilient plant populations
  • Investigate soil characteristics, water availability and terrain of site
  • Investigate history of land use and management strategies of site
  • Observe biological processes attributed to resilient plant species
  • Record identities and observations in field notes

Element: Assess the implications of resilient plants in permaculture system
  • Identify beneficial characteristics of resilient plants for a permaculture system
  • Determine plant species and population density of resilient plants according to permaculture management plan
  • Determine plant population levels at which resilient plant would be deemed a weed
  • Obtain professional advice to support determinations

Element: Plan the implementation of permaculture resilient plant management
  • Identify control measures for resilient plants and weeds in a permaculture system
  • Select, check and prepare tools and equipment required for maintaining resilient plants and weeds
  • Select, use and maintain safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE)

Element: Implement the permaculture resilient plant management plan
  • Coordinate and schedule work team and control animals according to permaculture system management plan
  • Implement permaculture plant and weed management
  • Use by-products of plant and weed management according to permaculture system plan
  • Maintain records of resilient plant management activity according to workplace procedures

Element: Monitor the permaculture resilient plant management plan
  • Monitor progress of permaculture resilient plants and weeds
  • Identify unintended effects to permaculture system from management activity
  • Assess effectiveness of the permaculture resilient plant and weed management plan
  • Adjust resilient plant and weed management plan to meet permaculture system objectives

Submission Requirements

List each assessment task's title, type (eg project, observation/demonstration, essay, assignment, checklist) and due date here

(add new lines for each of the assessment tasks)

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.
